When you use smart bidding strategies such as Target CPA or Target ROAS in your Google Ads campaigns, Google uses the conversions and revenue data to reach your targets.
As conversion tracking sometimes could become a complicated process especially in bigger accounts, it happens that you might realize your conversion tracking set up in Google Ads was broken for a period of time, for example because of an update in your website or some other reason.
So when your conversion tracking is broken and Google Ads is not recording your conversions correctly, it could give bad signals about the performance of your campaigns to automated bidding, which will affect the performance your campaigns in long term.
In that scenario, it’s better to exclude the data in Google Ads for the time when your conversion tracking was broken, so you can prevent any bad signals being sent to auto bidding as your campaigns will ignore those data.
In the following video, you will learn how to apply data exclusions in Google Ads to your campaigns.
